What Are USP VI-Certified Materials?

We are proud to offer more than 20 compounds that are USP-VI certified. This certification comes from the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), which publishes standards designed to protect the health and safety of the American public through establishing certain criteria for medication, surgical implements, and other medical devices.

For a material to become USP VI certified, it must pass a series of biomedical tests, as well as, an implantation test to ensure that it is truly biocompatible.  Whereas medical grades of silicone are commercially available for molding, chemists at PAI had to develop our own medical grade EPDM, FKM, and Perfluoroelastomer compounds and have them tested and approved to the USP Class VI standard by a third party resource.
